It has come to my attention that the Lifetime cable network is developing an update of the late 80′s film Steel Magnolias. For those that don’t remember, that AWESOME film and original cast starred Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, Sally Field, and Olympia Dukakis, a story of a group of women in Louisiana with a sad/emotional ending will be remade with an all black cast. I think its a GREAT idea to see a different story line and how the story will potray these black women. From what I have read, the producers are said to be looking for high-caliber black actresses to fill the roles.
I’m going for hmm Loretta Devine, Philcia Rashad, Alfre Woodard, Whoopi Goldberg, Cicely Tyson, Lonette McKee, Angela Bassett…those type of women.
We shall see. Stay tuned. Also the film is still set in Louisiana. Exciting!

It has come to my attention that actress and mother to the late Heath Ledger’s daughter Matilda Michelle Williams, is to play the role of the blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe in a film titled My Week with Marilyn.
The film is a true story of a movie-set assistant’s week spent with Marilyn and from what I have read Michelle Williams is highly excited about playing the role which makes it even better.
My Week with Marilyn is dues in theaters November 4.

It has come to my attention that there may be a sequel to The Best Man. The first film was in 1999 which was beautifully directed by Malcolm D. Lee. The crazy thing is some time this summer, the original cast, Morris Chestnut, Terrance Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Taye Diggs had a reunion dinner which makes me think there was SOMETHING in the making.
Universal Pictures is said to have been the ones to have conversed with Malcolm in writing, directing, and producing this film and I’m oh so excited!
Stay tuned!

I would LOVE to see this!
This was some news that excited me! It has been recently reported that there will be a reality series called “Diary of a Diva”.
Diary of a Diva is said to focus on a group of Black women and their POSITIVE aspects of their lives as mothers and business women. It’s ABOUT TIME. You should be able to observe the personal lives of one of my favorites- Faith Evans, Tweet, KeKe Wyatt, Angie Stone, Monifah, LeLee of SWV, Syleena Johnson, original Brownstone member Nicci Gilbert and new member Teisha Jaretta.
I have no information on what network will carry this production but this show is said to begin in 2012. This show may too positive for VH1 or MTV.
Stay tuned, this is going to be a GOOD one.
Tyler Perry’s newest sitcom For Better or Worse is said to hit TBS in the fall. The great news I heard about this is that the characters, my favorite characters, centers around “Why Did I Get Married’s “Marcus and Angela. GREATER news is that Michael Jai White will play his role as Marcus but as an ex-football player turned sports commentator and the lovely Tasha Smith will resume her role as Angela who will be giving him hell and giving us laughter!
Don’t miss THIS one. November 25 on TBS!
If you haven’t heard by now there was a musical out called Sparkle (before Dreamgirls). Sparkle is a 1976 R&B musical about the ups and downs of three sisters in a group from Harlem who make it big in the 1950′s.
From what I have read, American Idol’s Jordin Sparks has the lead role as Sparkle (kind of like Beyonce’s role in Dreamgirls) in the trio called The Hearts. Whitney Houston is said to play the trip’s mother and Mike Epps to play Satin.
Check out the You Tube link below for clip of the original. Check out Lonette McKee! Come on Jordin Sparks…this could be your “Jennifer Hudson” moment. Stay tuned!

It has come to my attention that Martin Lawrence is headed back to TV! From the information that I have gathered, he is developing a CBS sitcom for pilot season. The project is said to come from CBS TV Studios and they are to be closing a deal with Mr. Lawrence.
Now Martin hasn’t been on a sitcom since his FOX HIT Martin went off the air in the late 90′s. This would be a grrrrrreat time for him to appear again and make us all laugh ridiculously like he did before.
You go boy!

After a successful 41 year run, ABC’s soap opera All My Children’s last episode aired today.
From what I have read, the production company Prospect Park has announced plans to debut online versions of the soaps in January, but nothing finalized….and I’m not sure what that means. lol
I see the reality tv shows are taking over for the soap operas.
Sad news today. R&B singer Vesta Williams has passed away. From what I have read her body was found in a Los Angeles hotel room. No details on cause of death. She was only 48.
Vesta is well known for her biggest hit “Congratulations”. Check out the You Tube link below for a great flashback.

For those that don’t know, Beyonce has launched another fragrance called PULSE.
She made her grand entrance in this all white “ok” gown at the Macy’s department store in Manhattan, NY. Along with her fragrance product, she has her 16 Grammys inside as decor…yep.
Fab.
It has come to my attention that Universal Pictures is developing a third update of the LEGENDARY movie Scarface. From what I have read, the project is in its early stages and its not a sequel, the crime tale is to be set in today’s times…the new America.
Now, there can NEVER be another Al Pacino, BUT it is about that time for another gangster movie too much “softness” going on in the world today with all these darn chic flicks.
It’s about that time…STAY TUNED!
It has come to my attention that phenomenal director, John Singleton, with movie credits for directing, the 90′s Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Rosewood, in the 2000′s Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, and many more, is to be linking up with West Coast rapper and actor Ice Cube for an N.W.A. biopic!
The title of the project is said to be called “Straight Outta Compton” and I think this idea and project is genius!
Stay tuned!
Sad news has come to my attention. There was a blog I did back in January (earlier this year) that Andy Whitfield, who played the role of Spartacus (Starz network) was not coming back due to his diagnosis of lymphoma cancer.
Well…the update I just learned of this morning is that Andy Whitfield died Sunday with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Sydney, Australia.
For those that don’t know, Whitfield appeared in all 13 episodes of the first season that aired in 2010 (AWESOME) and was in preparations to shoot the second when he was diagnosed. Awaiting his treatment and recovery, the network did a 6 part prequel “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena”. Since his health got worse, the network welcomed the new Australian actor Liam McIntyre.
Andy Whitfield is survived by his wife and two children. May he rest peacefully with the angels.
It has come to my attention that BET Networks is beginning its production on Gun Hill starring Larenz Tate!
For those that don’t know, Larenz Tate’s credits follow movies like Menace II Society (one of my favorites), Love Jones, Dead Presidents, Ray, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, South Central (tv series), and so much more!
Gun Hill in a nut-shell is a cop drama which brings a fresh spin to the Cain and Abel saga set in New York City. To my understanding, Tate will play a dual role, being an identical twin, one cop and the other a con, change in an instant as their lives become intertwined one night when the cop is killed and the con assumes his identity.
Interesting, huh? Stay tuned!
So excited to share that one of my favorite reality tv women, from Bravo TV’s(former)Real Housewives of New Jersey, who left the show in the middle of the second season, Dina Manzo, is to be hosting her own show titled Dina’s Party on HGTV this fall! This show is said to be for her event planning company.
Dina’s Party premieres September 15, 2011.
It has come to my attention that Eddie Murphy will be hosting the 2012 Oscars! Surprised?!
Now which Eddie Murphy will attend? Our Beverly Hills Cops, RAW, The Harlem Nights, or the Nutty Professor-turned Hollywood Eddie? I think he’ll do great.
The 84th Academy Awards is to air Sunday, February 26, 2012.
It has been reported that professional tennis player, former World No.1 champ, Venus Williams announced that has been diagnosed with autoimmune disease and is withdrawing from the US Open. SUCKS, right?
Autoimmune diseases arise from an overactive immune response of the body against substances and tissues normally present in the body. In easier lengua, the disorder may result in abnormal growth of an organ, changes in organ function, and or the destruction of one or more types of body tissue.
Now this doesn’t mean that she won’t be playing ever again…just pulling out of the US Open according to various statements.
This unfortunate news has been on various entertainment sites regarding the gorgeous Stacey Dash.
Here goes–she is not returning to do a season 2 of VH1′s ‘Single Ladies”. Now in case you didn’t know, there were all kinds of speculations about Stacey and co-star LisaRaye cat fighting on set and you might have seen statements from LisaRaye basically saying it isn’t true..yada yada yada…not saying this was an issue but you know folks will shoot for the negative first.
You never know. Will there be a re-cast? If so, who?
I’m just the messenger. Good luck Stacey, I’m sure you will be okay.
ABC has announced the newest cast of Season 13!
For the men dancers: David Arquette, Chaz Bono, Carson Kressley, Ron Artest, Rob Kardashian, and J.R. Martinez
For the ladies: Nancy Grace (can I get an OMG), Kristin Cavallari, Ricki Lake, Chynna Phillips, Elisabetta Canalis, and Hope Solo.
The season begins September 19 on ABC.
Dwayne Johnson, wrestler-actor, known by his ring name, The Rock, is reported to be an executive producer on a drama project (fictional) that is set in the world of the 1980′s wrestling…when it was interesting, in my eyes.
From what I have read, this is a 1 hour project with a pilot commitment, hailing from Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.
I think it’s a good idea.
